Archimedes first articulated the relationship between weight and distance from the fulcrum, and it turns out that weight is somewhat analogous to the frequency of certain behaviors in ones children; say the really hard to love ones (e.g. tantrums worthy of the timeout chair), or alternatively, the transcendentally lovely ones (e.g. piercing expressions of simple childlike love for Daddy). The amazing thing about levers, emotional or otherwise, is that force is only one factor in the dynamic. A groaning load of individual tantrums or assorted other childhood mundanities can so easily be counter-balanced, and then shifted handily, by statements like this one, that function as commandingly long effort arms of the heart.
